Today's ultrasound went very well. Dr. So-Cal was able to see a gestational sac and a yolk sac this time around, which is progress from last week when he thought "there might be a blip". Of course I was hoping to see a fetal pole today, but I'm only 5w 4days, so it's a little early for that (though I know some people are lucky enough to see a baby this early.). I was relieved to see a yolk sac though, as both times I've miscarried we never saw even that much development.
They also did a blood test, so hopefully my numbers will go up as they're supposed to (I'll get those results tomorrow afternoon). I'm scheduled for another ultrasound next Monday, at which point Dr. So-Cal said they would expect to see a heartbeat. He also said to go ahead an schedule an appointment with my OB. That's pretty good news, I think. He cautioned me that of course things could still happen, but that everything looks good/the way they would want it to so far.
So, I am feeling less cautious and more optimistic. I am very happy that there is a yolk sac in there, and am hopeful that we'll be able to see a little peanut with a rice grain heartbeat next week. I don't suppose I'll really relax until that point, but as long as my blood test comes back good tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'll feel at least a little less anxious than I have up until now.
So far, so good. Thank you God! =)
